Free Pop-Up Pitch for Local Charities/Groups/Organisations

In order to increase trade on our Tuesday Market, whilst also helping local Charities, Groups and Organisations, Town Councillors have introduced the Free Pop-Up Pitch Incentive:

For local Charities, Groups & Organisations based in Dereham.
A free of charge pitch on our Tuesday Market.
Local Charities, Groups and Organisations can apply to attend one free market every 3 months.

Tuesday Incentive Scheme

In order to increase trade on our Tuesday Market, Town Councillors have introduced the following incentive for Tuesdays only:

The first 10ft of a Tuesday pitch will cost £5 per market. Anything above this will be charged at the standard market rate (£1.19 per foot per market).
This incentive will continue for at least 6 months, so long as the trader attends the market regularly (weekly or fortnightly).
This incentive will be valid for the first 6 months of attendance. Councillors are due to review the incentive in January/February 2026, after which any additional incentive period will be confirmed, or if the usual rent will then apply.

New Trader Scheme

Are you new to market trading, with a business less than one year old, and would like to trade on Dereham Tuesday or Friday Market? Then this opportunity is for you!

Dereham Town Council originally offered 3 x 18-25 year-olds and 3 x over 25 year-olds the chance to apply for a pitch on Dereham Market, with 3 months free rent!

Spots for 2 x 18-25 year-olds still remain.

The Town Council understand that the first year of any business can be the most important and the most difficult, and therefore want to do our part to help traders in the local community, whilst also increasing the vibrancy of the markets and what is on offer.

Dereham Market is held twice weekly, on a Tuesday and Friday, in the Market Place and Church Street. The Market has been recognised as far back as 1388 and has been at the heart of the town ever since, offering a wide range of products and services to locals and visitors alike. Many of the traders have been with the market for over 30 years and are very much a part of what makes it great.

We’d love you to join us! The scheme will be run on a first come first served basis, so apply now to avoid disappointment!

New Trader Scheme:

For new traders, with a business less than one year old.

3 months free rent for 3 x over 25 year-olds - These slots have all been taken.
Not to be in competition with any existing stalls.
Offer is for Tuesday or Friday market, not both.
Subject to available pitches.
Dereham residents will be prioritised.

New Casual Trader Incentive (Point 9 of the Market Rules & Regulations)

New Casual Traders who attend regularly will receive a discount as follows:

All new traders must pay full rent for their first 4 weeks;
If they attend for 4 consecutive weeks, they get a 50% discount for the next 4 weeks;
If they attend for all those next 4 weeks, they get a 25% discount for the following 4 weeks;
Thereafter, full rent will apply.
