Town Council Administrative Officer
Dereham Town Council is pleased to offer a vacancy for an administrative officer to join its small but dedicated team.
Dereham Town Council provides a wide range of services for its residents, which include Cemeteries, Memorial Hall, Play areas, Open Spaces, Markets and Allotments. We are keen to hear from candidates who are interested in providing a high quality public service to the community and who thrive on taking ownership of their work.
The post requires the candidate to take responsibility for administering a specific service area, candidates must feel comfortable working within a policy framework but also be confident in bringing forward suggestions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the area of work they are responsible for.
There will be regular occasions when certain task involves working jointly with colleagues, so good communication skills and team working is essential.
The role can, at times, be challenging when dealing with sensitive issues. Candidates therefore need to have good customer care awareness with a high level of resilience in order to deal with the occasional challenging situation.
Despite the occasional challenges, the work is rewarding and varied for somebody who thrives in a busy environment where every day is different and there is always something new to learn.
The position is offered on the Local Government pay scale 7-22 currently £20,092 - £27,741 along with eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme and 22 days leave (rising to 25 days after 5 years’ service).
