I am an ex-serviceman. After leaving the Army I worked for British Rail first in Kent then in a bigger region including East Anglia. In 1981 I moved from Canterbury to Dereham.
Since retiring from work I have been involved in several organisations. I served for 9 years, some of it as Vice-Chairman, on the Board of Visitors of HMP Wayland; for 3 years as a Director of Mid Norfolk Railway; I am a member of the Royal British Legion , was RBL County Chairman from 2016 to 2019 and am currently Chairman of the Dereham Branch of RBL, Chairman of The Royal Anglian Association Dereham and I am on the Board of Trustees of Dereham Windmill.
In 2024 I started running a monthly Veterans’ Hub in Dereham Market Place, giving veterans a point of contact to air their anxieties and be signposted to support organisations.
My most enjoyable work has been as a Dereham Town Councillor since 2019. I have been Mayor on two occasions which I enjoyed immensely, meeting our community personally and listening to their concerns and how they would like to see the Town improve in different ways.
I like to help with the youth and elderly in our communities so they can live in a Town to be proud of.
